It was a privilege for me to be invited to this wonderful event as one of the 29 international women bloggers in Thailand to experience what the Tourism Authority had in store for women travelers to Thailand. They wanted us to experience the various holiday pleasures that are sure to be one of the most amazing experiences for the woman traveler who loves to be pampered and recognized from the moment they check in to the moment they leave in all the many activities planned for us which will also be extended to women travelers who visit these places in the month of August. The entire event is a showcase of wonderfully capable women in various levels of society as well as to highlight places and activities of interest in Thailand for women. Without much further ado, let me tell you about my experiences from the very beginning.
The TAT Women’s Journey Thailand 2017 started off with our check in to the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok Hotel in Sathorn Road, which is just about next door to the Malaysian Embassy if you find it difficult to locate. Will give you my review of the hotel in the next few blogs. The event was to last 5 days from 1st August till 5th August for the women blogger group. The evening started with the most spectacular reception and gala dinner at the Nai Lert Park Heritage Home with the arrival of fifty well-known international personalities.
Among the famous women celebrities and personalities who attended this event were Miss Universe Thailand 2017, Maria Poonlertlarp who just got crowned not long ago, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach the Miss Universe 2015, Kim So-hyun the South Korean actress, Tanya Sharma the Indian actress, Zhen Ying the Miss Universe China 2016, Ei Kywat Khaing the Miss Myanmar World 2017, Vaniphone Phumexay the Miss Vientiane 2017, Do My Linh the Miss Vietnam 2016, and Esma Voloder the Miss World Australia 2017.
Other media influencers included Anika Morjaria a well-known Indian YouTuber and Vlogger, Mary Ornborg the Editor-in-chief for First Class Magazine, Lotte Knutson a Swedish journalist, photographer and prolific writer and other influential social media personalities including the Lady Bloggers to Thailand, Lady Celebrities to Thailand and Lady Photographer to Thailand project groups.
The Gala dinner was officially opened by Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand with the introduction for a most warm welcome speech by Her Excellency Khun Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul who is the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Thailand. The purpose for the Women’s Journey Thailand 2017 is to showcase the many quality and luxury experiences available for the discerning woman traveler while enhancing the many destinations in Thailand as one of the female friendly destinations in Asia, while encouraging women travelers from abroad and locally to make Thailand as one of their preferred holiday destinations.
To further enhance the travel experience for women travelers, Mrs Srisuda, the Deputy Governor for International Marketing in Asia and South Pacific of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) mentioned that TAT has also been collaborating with various women friendly businesses in Thailand such as hotels, spa, telecommunications, car rentals and more to entice the lady traveler with more conveniences for the month of August with special discounts, freebies and additional services and products through their Women’s Journey Thailand special mobile app designed only for women. All you have to do next is just to register and get the access code to enjoy the many privileges meant only for you in this Welcome Package for women. Will tell you more about this app in the following blogs.
Mrs Srisuda also mentioned that “today’s women are the significant decision makers and high-spending power” so the Women’s Journey Thailand will be instrumental in showcasing the products and services that can serve a woman’s needs and how women can enjoy these products and services at very attractive prices when they visit Thailand in August.
The Women’s Journey Thailand campaign has identified seven categories of products and services that are in collaboration to attract women travelers to Thailand. These seven categories are beauty and spa services, accommodations such as hotels and resorts, health such as hospitals and specialized clinics, dining and restaurants, shopping malls, lifestyle activities which includes handicraft workshops and fitness, transportation services including flights and car rentals, dining and restaurants and last but not least recreation and entertainment such as theme parks.
As for the 29 influential women bloggers, we were treated to a five day familiarization trip of Bangkok and Chonburi. We had the privilege of staying at beautiful hotels like the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, The Hilton Pattaya and Movenpick Siam Pattaya. Activities we had a chance to experience included learning how to make a spa scrub by Divana Spa, Kombucha tea making, while also being treated to some of the Top 50 restaurants, a personal meal with the Top Chef Thailand, fashion shows and a private yacht trip to the islands in Pattaya and more! Will blog about some of these amazing experiences. The purpose for the familiarization trip as said by TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn is so that “ the first-hand experience will enable the bloggers to provide their readers with Thailand and visitor info and other top travel tips not often found on mainstream tourism media”
Other aspects of the campaign includes more activities such as the Ladies Celebrities to Thailand, The Lady Golf Challenge, Thailand Through Her Eyes, Lady Bloggers and Lady in Thai Fabrics. To further grace the campaign, TAT has also appointed Natthaya “Grace” Boonchompaisarn, The FACE Thailand Season 3 winner as the honorary representative with the role to inspire more female global travelers to explore Thailand.
